From the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean: fin whale migration between two feeding grounds

In the Mediterranean sea, two fin whale populations has been described, the Mediterranean and a Northeast North Atlantic (NENA) population. Mediterranean fin whale migration movements are poorly understood. Although aggregations are known to occur in different areas and seasons, established routes are being challenged as patterns appear to be changing. A NENA population is known to move towards the Mediterranean in winter and back to the Atlantic in summer.

In this scientific poster we aim to show our results regarding the migratory movements of a NENA subpopulation that enters in the Mediterranean Sea to feed in spring.
